Hilary Duff Is Becoming a Gossip Girl

Never fodder for the super market gossip rags, the Duffster is getting in on gossip in a whole new way... by joining the cast of Gossip Girl.  

But doesn't Hilary Duff always play the nice girl?  Let's check her career so far: Material Girls (did anyone even see this?), Cheaper by the Dozen 1 & 2 (poor attempt at bossy sister), The Perfect Man (nope, nice girl again), A Cinderella Story (complete opposite of mean girl), and Lizzie Maguire (Hilary's nice girl start).

Hilary's character on Gossip Girl is a movie star, Olivia Burke, trying to have a normal college experience at NYU.  But she ends up rooming with Vanessa, so you know there will be drama, drama, drama.  

And this isn't a one episode deal, Duff has signed on for a multi-episode arc starting the fourth episode, premiering October 5th, of the new season.

Is this Hilary's time to break out the usual good girl role she's type-cast for?  Will she fit in as a mean girl?  And most importantly, who will she hook up with?

Will this Olivia become a full time character?  Will Hilary Duff cut it on Gossip Girl?
