All you Third Eye Blind fans out there awaiting the new album can finally step back from that ledge.  3EB themselves announced a serious release date for their first studio recording in six years. It's sooner than you think...

Punk Legends Team up for Power Tour

East Bay punk rockers Rancid are dropping a new album June 2nd and we all know what that means... a tour of course!  But just in case the "Time Bomb" rockers can't convince you to "Journey to the End of the East Bay" with them (let's see just how many titles I can get in), they're teaming up with melodic-hardcore group Rise Against.  (click here for tour dates) Let the Dominoes Fall will be Rancid's first album since 2003's Indestructible.  But they haven't been taking a break.  In 2002 Rancid guitarist Lars Frederiksen released Viking with his side project Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards (in 2001 they produced their first record, self-titled).  Viking was a fun album, but never hit big and received less than stellar reviews.  In 2006 Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong put out his solo album A Poet's Life.  Although the single Into Action got some radio play, the album was less than brilliant (I'm being kind because I love anything and everything that has to do with Rancid).

But with the bad comes the good.  Just think, if Tim's or Lars's other projects had blown up (in a good way), Rancid might not have made their new album or be touring this summer.  Skeptical?  You have every right to be.  2003's Indestructible was mediocre (remember "Fall Back Down"?  Still not as annoyingly catchy as Green Day's "Know Your Enemy").  Rancid has posted Let the Dominoes Fall in its entirety (I LOVE this trend!) on their Hell Cat site.  (OK so I'm not so sure about the "boom-shaka-laka-laka"s and "shimmy-shimmy-shake"s, but it's fun).

Still not convinced?  Rise Against (co-headlining on the tour if you got lost on my mini tangent) and their new album Appeal to Reason (dropped last fall, I can still call it new right?) has been doing well.  The first single  "Re-Education (Through Labor)" hit the Billboard Top 3 in the modern rock category.

That's the information, you know what to do.
